OPRA Advocacay Alert-Elections 2026
Earlier this week, OPRA sent out an Advocacy Alert detailing the outcomes of Tuesday’s Midterm elections. The wave election flips control of the House and Senate in Washington to the Democrats, who also gained representation in Ohio’s congressional delegation. Major races in Ohio included Amy Acton’s victory over Vivek Ramaswamy to be Ohio’s next Governor, as well as the re-election of Senator Sherrod Brown after his defeat to Senator Bernie Moreno just two years ago. In other important election news, only 5 of 12 County Board of DD levies passed. Successful levies include Cuyahoga, Delaware, Henry, Jefferson and Marion counties. This election will bring major changes and new faces in both Columbus and Washington. Advocacy, outreach and education about the importance disability services are more important than ever and we look forward to connecting with the newly elected and returning policymakers as we head into a lame duck session and biennium budget next year.
