Summer Youth Employment Support Professional

Position Description:

Summary/Objective Working as a Summer Youth Employment Support Professional, you will provide Summer Youth Work Experience services to transitional age (high school junior / seniors) individuals with disabilities. Summer Youth Employment Support Professionals have a desire to create lasting positive impacts on people's lives and enjoy coaching, mentoring, training, and encouraging others to celebrate their achieved outcomes on the path to community employment. Responsibilities will include hard and soft skills training and assisting participants with identifying and matching strengths, skill sets and interests to employment opportunities that would be a good fit.

Duties:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions.

General:

  • Deliver services which adhere to CMS, DODD, OOD and CARF rules and standards. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local rules and statues.
  • Complete all required documentation / reporting in a timely and accurate manner per funding / billing requirements.
  • Follow all company / funding communication guidelines in a professional and timely manner. 
  • Maintain billable hours requirement for the department.
  • Maintain an environment free of health and safety hazards.
  • Uphold the rights, dignity and respect of all persons served as well as promote independence and self-advocacy skills.
  • Complete all required service documentation.
  • Participate in all required meetings and staff training.
  • Work flexible hours including days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed to complete duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

OOD:

  • Coordinate skill training and job-readiness training. 
  • Maintain consistent communication with OOD counselors / family / guardians on issues and progress of students.
  • Provide information and assistance about the program to worksites and participants. • Identify barriers to employment as well as solutions to said barriers.
  • Establish relationships with employers/worksites assigned to.
  • Devise, plan and implement effective job coaching strategies.
  • Discover participants’ motivation and help develop their employability skills.
  • Monitor and document participants’ progress.
  • Uphold a positive work environment.

Requirements & Preferences:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year of experience in employment services is preferred.
  • Leadership skills in conflict intervention, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to speak effectively and persuasively to participants and employers.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional training and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate reliability and positive attitude.
  • Must have the ability to represent individuals and agency in a professional manner Eligibility Qualifications Required Licensure and Certifications.
  • Must submit to a BCII/FBI background check; Nurses Aid & Abuser Registry checks.
  • Must be able to maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License; meet and maintain insurability standards to drive for company business.
  • Must complete Employment First’s Orientation to Support Employment Work Environment.
  • This position operates at a community employers’ site and at ARC’s main office (orientation).
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear.
  • Individual must be able to lift, bend, push and pull up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a part-time position.
  • Individual must be able to work a flexible schedule (hours depending on employer site needs).
