MUI (Major Unusual Incident) Rule Revision
OPRA, in concert with the Ohio county DD boards, has created a workgroup to discuss possible changes to the MUI rule in anticipation of its upcoming scheduled five year review. Discussions to date have centered on rule definitions with the overarching goal of increasing efficiencies, simplicity and consistency of interpretation across the state.

The purpose of this rule is to implement the self-empowered life funding waiver, a component of the medicaid home and community-based services program administered by the department pursuant to section 5111.871 of the Revised Code. Individuals enrolled in the self-empowered life funding waiver exercise participant direction through budget authority and/or employer authority.
